There are a lot of similarities between specific events taking place in Abrahamic religions and Tolkien's writing.
A few examples:
The sinking of Ar-Pharzaon and his fleet by Eru (the one true God, who has no partners - equivalent to the Abrahamic God). This seems very similar to the events around Moses (a prophet in Judaism, Christianity and Islam). Where Moses is being chased by the Pharaoh, and there is a direct intervention by God to separate the seas to allow passage for Moses and his followers. Consequently Pharaoh and his people end up drowning, a similar fate to those of Numenor.
The one 'eye'. In the scripture of Islam, Christianity and Judaism there is a figure that appears at the end of times called the 'anti-christ', or in Islam he is referred to as 'Dajjal'. One of the many characteristics of this individual is that he will have 'one eye'. One could take that meaning literally, or symbolically. This all refers to conspiracy theories around the freemasons etc, and their symbol of the 'one eye' around the pyramid.
The similarities between a saviour for humanity, likened to that of a figure in Islam called the 'Mahdi'. It's prophesied that an individual would unite all people to fight under one banner against the Dajjal. He shares a similar story line to that of Aragorn, where a lot of characteristics prophesied about him match that of Aragorn.
Examples:
- From a lineage of the prophets / Numenor Lineage
- Misguided in his youth, but when it comes for his time he takes his responsibility and all follow him
- Under his leadership Dajjal/Anti-christ is defeated.
Another point of note, the Mahdi himself never defeats the anti-christ at the end in Abrahamic literature, it's Jesus who comes and defeats him (possibly Frodo?)
