Short story collection from 70s: one story, spacewrecked on jungle planet; another, device for projecting one's mind into another body
Looking for a book that had 6 or 7 stories all written by same author I believe.
2 of the most memorable were the opening story that involved a group of people that crash landed on an alien world. Very primitive, jungle like. One of the characters has his legs bitten off while swimming across a river. I think the woman and one other character survive.
Second most memorable story was a scientist who invents a device that allows a person to force their consciousness into another, literally driving that person's mind into oblivion. He was driven by altruism, hoping to have someone with a great mind and value to humanity but with a failing body be given the ability to remain alive. His device was taken by someone more malevolent and ultimately he had to trick the person into taking over the body of someone who was going to be executed.
