story identification - Novel about Bugs Bunny being tricked by a wealthy man to loot some snowy building
In my childhood, I bought a novel at a garage sale and read through it. This novel appeared to be official and even had professional illustrations of Bugs Bunny. It had the following plot points:
- Bugs Bunny saw a wealthy man throwing money out of his car, and a mob of people began collecting the money.
- Bugs Bunny wanted to be as generous as this wealthy man, to be able to be so rich as to throw money out of his car.
- So Bugs Bunny talked to the wealthy man.
- Wealthy man told Bugs Bunny his secret to his wealth: gold hidden in some snowy building! All Bugs Bunny has to do is go down to the snowy building and get the gold.
- Bugs Bunny left the house with a new purpose in life.
- Wealthy man reveals to the audience that he wasn't actually wealthy to begin with...instead, he is using what little money he has left to pretend to be rich, so that he could trick naive people into asking him where he got his money. Then the "wealthy man" can tell them to loot the gold from the snowy building, in the hopes that he can then intercept them, and then steal the gold from them (thereby actually being wealthy).
- Bugs Bunny does get the gold.
- "Wealthy man" tries to steal the gold, Bugs Bunny outwits him.
- Bugs Bunny converts the gold into cash and starts throwing the money out of his car too.
- The masses didn't bother collecting the dollar bills; they saw Bugs Bunny as not being "professional".
- Bugs Bunny didn't care. He wanted to be generous, and didn't care about people's reactions.
It had an interesting plot that I still "like", but can't recall its title or even what area Bugs Bunny was supposed to loot (other than the fact it's snowy).
I also remember, but am not 100% sure, that Bugs Bunny had a sidekick (Daffy Duck) as well.
